Reasonable
Recently, I found myself listening to Sam Harris discussing 'How to Lose a Democracy' with a political scientist named Damon Linker. (Never heard of him).
I quit about halfway through because it dawned on me that—while everything they were saying sounded rational and reasonable—they might as well be living on a different planet.
I may be unduly pessimistic after immersing myself in some Hobsbawm, but the notion that rationality and reason will somehow come to the fore in the near term seems patently delusional.
It's a discourse for a world that no longer exists.
