Farcaster S2
It was a week filled with people talking about decentralized social.
Mask took over Lens (which I never used), and Neynar acquired Farcaster (which I used for several years).
Before my departure, Neynar enabled me to build a thucydides bot with ease. The team there has developed a handy piece of tooling for people to build on the protocol, and with the rise of vibe coding, I expect more people to launch apps, games, etc using their kit.
I hope the culture that was on Farcaster in the early days returns, perhaps with a bit less navel-gazing and a lot more fun.
But, I'm tapped out with social media, and not feeling the urge to contribute to VC-backed networks. The incentives aren't aligned with users, nor are the funders' visions aligned with mine for the country.
More importantly, I have an idea for a writing project that I'd rather spend my time and energy on to bring into the world.
This Bear Blog is serving its purpose.
